Shades Valley High School Choral Department has a new Director - Mrs. Gia Graddy.

Mrs. Graddy holds a Master of Music from Auburn University, where she was in the Auburn University Singers, Concert Choir, and Women’s Choir. Prior to attending Auburn, she received her Bachelor of Music Education from Georgia College & State University.

She has been teaching since 1998. Before coming to Shades Valley High School, she taught at Spain Park High School and Hoover High School. Her choirs have consistently earned Superior rankings in the competitions they have attended and have been privileged enough to be invited to sing at Disney World and Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Mrs. Graddy is married to Mr. Joey Graddy, a graphic designer. They live in Pelham, Alabama and have been happily married since 2004. They have one child, their dog Bailey.

She is very happy to be heading up the SVHS/JCIB Choral Department, and is excited at the new possibilities for building the program even stronger.
